Zip-archive is only allowed to contain GPX-files

Hi guys,

Noticed a weird problem with cacheye recently. I filter the caches that I want to see, click file -> export -> and choose GPX and select to use default. I then zip the file with winRar to create filename.zip that contains just one file: filename.gpx (for example). When I try and import this into cacheye I get the error: "Zip-archive is only allowed to contain GPX-files". I try importing a (different) file as just a .gpx file without zipping and I then get the error: "Filename must be in the format GCxxxx.gpx".

Seems to only be when I export from GSAK. I haven't changed or tweaked anything, I don't think. This doesn't happen when I import a PQ download from Geocaching.com bypassing GSAK.

Any ideas?

Cass

Groundspeak zips and gpxs don't work either

I have the same issue as Cass.
And my zips and GPX files come directly from Groundspeak, so it doesn't appear to be anything to do with that

I see! :) Thanks very much!

I see! :) Thanks very much! The thing that puzzled me is that I've done the export through GSAK as a .gpx file loads of times before without using the cacheye macro and it has worked perfectly. I wonder why it no longer works. Anyway, macro downloaded and I'll do it that way.

Cheers!

Zip-Archive vs. GPX-Files

Hi Cass!

The crucial thing is, that the GPX-format which is produced by Groudspeak differs silghtly from the GPX-format GSAK writes.
This is the cause why the GSAK GPX is not supported by the mechanisms CACH'EYE implemented.
The second thing is: the zip-archive you get with your pocket query consists of two files (one which holds the caches and one which holds the waypoints). Because CACH'EYEs focus mechanism is based on information which is enhanced by our routines combining the information of this two files we have to rely on the original pocket query files.
When you produce a GSAK-GPX there is only one file with both informations and our routines fail (besides the different XML-Structure).
The third point: if you produce a GPX-file by klicking the "GPX-Button" in your cache listing all information is within the file you get called "GCxxxx.gpx" for this one cache.

So I summarize:
If you use GSAK for filtering use our makro for loading your map.
If you want to use the zip-archive of your pocket query directly use the import button.
If you want to load the GPX for one cache you got by klicking the button in the listing use the impoort button.

All other trials will cause problems.

I hope this answer helps to overcome your troubles
